Public safety officials and first responders need to be able to communicate with each other effectively at the site of emergencies. However, changes in building construction and building systems have resulted in conditions where sometimes the first responder radios and cell phones do not work. As a result, the Code requirements are changing to address this important aspect of safety for our responders.
This 1 hour presentation will provide an overview of In-building Public Safety Radio Systems (ERRS) system basics, new and existing codes, performance requirements, types of systems, frequencies, alarming and battery back-up requirements as well as acceptance testing.
The presentation will be provided by Justin Phillips of RF Connect. Justin has more than 25 years of experience in wireless and core network technologies, large scale macro deployments and distributed antenna systems (DAS). He is currently the Senior Business Development Manager with RF Connect, a company focused on the design, deployment and support of high performance wireless networks for commercial and Public Safety. Prior to RF Connect, Justin worked at Nortel Networks, Ericsson and TESSCO Technologies serving in the sales, business development and engineering departments. With a focus on carrier and enterprise, Justin’s territories have included US and International markets. He has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M.
