The Central Gulf Coast proudly welcomes Tom Wade, PE, to discuss the Performance Based Design Fire Protection Engineering.
The presentation will generally discuss the subject of performance based design. Specific topics will be the evolution of performance-based fire protection engineering and performance-based fire protection codes, how to understand the role of goals, objectives and performance criteria, and discussing the advantages and disadvantages of performance-based fire protection engineering. The presentation will also discuss the process recommended in the SFPE Engineering Guide to Performance-Based Fire Protection
Mr. Wade is the Principal Fire Protection Engineer for GSE, Inc., a multi-discipline engineering firm with offices in Mobile, AL, Gulfport, MS, and Nashville, TN. Mr. Wade has over 20 years experience, with specialty areas in fire prevention, fire protection, and life safety engineering of heavy industrial occupancies. Mr. Wade’s fire protection design for the Airbus Americas manufacturing facility was named “Engineering Innovation of the Year” in 2015 at the NFPA Annual Conference in Chicago, IL.
Mr. Wade is a member of various professional organizations including the National Fire Protection Association, where he is currently on the technical committee for fire fighter qualifications. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State University and a Masters of Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland.
